what the future sounds like.”

lau.ra is the new project from producer, DJ and vocalist Laura Bettinson. Hailing from the Midlands but residing in London, you may know Bettinson as 1/3rd of Ultraísta with Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich. Now Bettinson turns her attention to her own solo electronic music, dancing deeper into her role as producer and DJ. Her debut single ‘I Just Wanna’ was released at the end of 2019, on Mike Mago’s BMKLTSCH RCRDS. At this time Laura also penned a deal with Ninja Tune’s publishing arm ‘Just Isn’t Music’ bringing together a fantastic team.

The follow up singles have all been with London-based Needwant Records. This includes ‘Sideways’ featuring Secaina which is part of the top 5 Essential tracks from 2020 as recommended by 6 Music presenters. DJ and presenter Nemone says: “This is an absolute monster, from a hugely talented producer. When this track first landed, I couldn’t stop playing it. I played it practically all the way from the first three months of 2020, it had me from the go. “. Next up was ‘Get Creative’ featuring Nova which again was heavily supported by 6music and also Radio 1’s Annie Mac. To end 2020 in style lau.ra released Wicked featuring Eliza Legzdina . It had an instant impact on all streaming services on some of the biggest dance playlists and leading to lau.ra doing and being involved in mixes, artist spotlight and playlisting on 6music and support from Radio 1.

“The music i’ve been making over the past 12 months is a whole new sound for me that required a whole new project. For the first time I want to release new music under my own name and have felt more supported as a self-producing artist in electronic music than I ever did in pop.” lau.ra
